Gardening

Mission

Our collective and continuous efforts are aimed to:

  • develop a community garden in an underutilized/vacant lot in New Orleans.

  • improve food security for undeserved communities.

  • provide opportunities for positive social interaction and recreation.

  • nurture curiosity and provide hands-on learning opportunities for children.

Vision

T-Town Community Garden envisions a community with better access to organic produce and health related education for youth.

Mission

Mission

T-Town Community Garden  is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the creation of organic gardens in underutilized spaces to provide organic produce for urban communities in New Orleans. Our mission is to create a more sustainable, and fair food system by creating a public vegetable garden with an orchard and a medicinal plants. We aim to transform an empty lot into a place of community empowered food production where kids can assist in improving the local biodiversity while enjoying physical activity with community members. Ultimately, T-Town Community Garden envisions a space where the youth can come to attend garden workshops, harvesting parties, and cooking classes. This garden will also serve as a memorial space for our dear friend Tia Towns.

Through loss she has found strength to make changes in our community. Her degree from Dillard University in Finance and Economics as well her masters degree from Xavier University in Educational Leadership makes Frankie Jackson the perfect leader for our team.
